Roland JD-800

The Roland JD-800 is a digital synth used by Prince. He first used one on the Love Symbol album and it went on to become his main keyboard for the rest of the 1990s. It can be heard prominently on the Come, Gold Experience and Emancipation albums. Later in the 1990s, Prince combined two JD-800s into a single hybrid instrument. This was used on the Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic album. It is similar to the Roland D-50, which was Prince's main keyboard in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but has a range of analogue synthesizer-style controls.

Roland also made a rack version, the JD-990. Renato Neto used one on the Musicology tour.
